Skillet Moroccan Chicken

Skillet Moroccan Chicken is one of my favorite chicken recipes. It’s easy, quick and flavorful, with a slightly sweet taste that is a bit unusual. I made this for some friends last week and they requested the recipe. So here it is… Continue reading

Tasty Tuesday: Banana Cranberry Muffins

I abhor food waste, so I found a wonderful way to use up some of my extra cranberry sauce after Thanksgiving: Banana Cranberry Muffins. They were duly enjoyed by all. So, if you still have cranberry sauce leftover (like I do 🙂 ), or if you just want to plan early for next year, here’s the recipe.

And if you don’t have extra cranberry sauce, don’t worry. I’ve also included directions for how to make your own. It only takes about 15 minutes.

I hope you enjoy these muffins as much as we do! Continue reading

What’s for dinner — tonight!?

“What are you making for Thanksgiving dinner?” seems to be the question of the week. I don’t know why. I don’t recall hearing that question so often in the past. I wonder: are folks expecting that I’ll be making something … Continue reading

Tasty Tuesday: Apple Challah

As I’ve mentioned before, September is Apple Month around here. So far, I’ve made two types of apple cake: New Apple Cake and Grandma’s Apple Cake. Today I’m sharing a recipe for Apple Challah. Challah, if you aren’t familiar with it, is a slightly sweet egg bread. The addition of apples to this recipe makes is extra-special. […] Continue reading

Tasty Tuesday: Grandma’s Apple Cake

My grandmother, may her memory be a blessing, used to make this recipe quite often. Whenever she was invited to a gathering, she would bring this Apple Cake. And she was asked so often for the recipe that she finally came up with a plan. Whenever she brought the cake somewhere, she would also bring several cards with the recipe. She was very generous with her baking recipes. It was just adorable. The hostess would unpack the cake and find the recipe as well. 😉

So now I’m sharing this recipe with you […] Continue reading

Tasty Tuesday: New Apple Cake

September is Apple Month around here. Apples become available around the very end of August, and we like to go apple picking at least once a year. Also, apples are part of the symbolism of Rosh HaShana (the Jewish holiday) which is normally in the early part of this month. (Jewish holidays are determined by the Jewish calendar, which is different from the regular calendar.) Anyway, the point is that we tend to use a lot of apples around here in September, and I’ll be sharing several apple recipes over the next few weeks.

I have two recipes for Apple Cake, both of which I love. They are quite different, actually, considering how similar the ingredients are. Next week I’ll share my grandmother’s Apple Cake, which is a slightly more European/Old School recipe. Today’s recipe is a bit sweeter, and the apples are cooked first which gives the cake a whole different type of taste. This one is called “New Apple Cake” just because the recipe is newer than my grandmother’s recipe. Both recipes are delicious, I promise.

Read on for the details of New Apple Cake … Continue reading

Tasty Tuesday: Baked Apricot Chicken

I made the most delicious, and incredibly easy, chicken recipe the other day, and I feel compelled to share it.

One of the best parts of this recipe is that you can prepare it up to 24 hours in advance. So it’s perfect for busy days: just prepare it the night before, and then when the time comes all you have to do is stick it in the oven. Or, in my case, ask another household member to stick it in the oven. 🙂

Tasty Tuesday: Pumpkin Applesauce Muffins

These delicious pumpkin applesauce muffins just so happen to be non-dairy and part-whole wheat. I brought them this weekend to a small gathering, and by the time I left they had all been eaten. I love it when people eat my baked goods!

And, since pumpkin is my son’s nickname, well, we use it a lot around here.

Enjoy this recipe for Pumpkin Applesauce Muffins. They just happen to be non-dairy and part-whole wheat as well. […] Continue reading

Tasty Tuesdays: Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins With Wheat Germ

What’s that, you say? Part-whole-wheat-banana-wheat-germ-chocolate-chip-muffins? Yes, that’s right, I say. And they are delicious. Here’s the thing: if you’re looking for a super-sweet and extra-light muffin recipe, this one’s not for you. I don’t mean to imply that these are … Continue reading
