A perfect weekend day, with out-of-town visitors

kids on swingset

We had a lovely day yesterday. Two different friends were in town — one family from San Francisco and one from Brazil. So a third family had an open-house style cookout/barbecue to enable everyone to get together without a million arrangements.

It was completely fun!

Everyone wanted to watch the game. Don’t even pretend that you don’t know what game. The World Cup Soccer Final, naturally. It’s always especially fun to watch those kind of events in a large group. Originally we thought that the big game might possibly be Brazil against Argentina (there are several Argentinians in our group of friends), but obviously it didn’t work out that way. Maybe that was better, because there would have really been a huge rivalry (a friendly rivalry, of course). A good time was had by all.

Monkey had a great time with all the kids. They were busy jumping off the swings, flying paper airplanes, chasing the poor dog, and even playing foosball. For me it was really fun to see all the kids and how they’ve grown. Plus, of course, I enjoyed visiting with their parents (the adults) too. 😀

The best part is that our Brazilian friends will be in the area for TWO MORE WEEKS! Yay! You know how with some people, even though you haven’t seen them in ages you just pick right up where you left off? Well, that’s how it is with us. It’s such a treat that they are here.

Some friends, even when they live far away, feel like family.

[As a side note, we have other wonderful friends who have been living in Mexico — and they are coming to town for a whole year. It’s like old home week/month/year around here. I’m loving it!]

It was wonderful to see you, too! I was rooting for Argentina, but what can you do? It was so fun to see all the kids together. We’ll have to do it again soon 🙂
