Monkey and I had planned to go to a water park yesterday, but unfortunately I just wasn’t feeling up to it. I hope we’ll find another day this summer to go instead. Do all kids love water parks as much as mine do?
Instead she slept late while I went to the Consulate of Spain with her dad, getting the paperwork ready for Pumpkin’s trip there. After I returned, she invited a friend and we went to see the movie Despicable Me, which came out yesterday. She was so excited to see it on opening day! I don’t know why that’s such a draw for her, but it is. I found a movie theatre that I’ve never been to before, in Belmont. There’s only ONE screen, one movie at a time. It’s a beautiful, old-fashioned theatre, and since we went during the day the price was discounted steeply. The best part: excellent air conditioning!
To top off the day, we had a light meal and then went to the pool for a few hours. The girls had a great time jumping off the diving board and swimming, and I finished my book. It was due at the library yesterday, so I finished it just in time. 🙂 If you’re interested, it was called “Life After Yes” by Aidan Donnelley Rowley.
Did I enjoy the book? Hmm…it was funny and smart, and described life in Manhattan in a very interesting way. All the characters were human, that is to say flawed and realistic rather than caricatures. But in some way it never really grabbed me. It was good and I enjoyed it, but it never fully pulled me in and made me see things differently. If it wasn’t due back at the library, I would have taken a lot longer to finish it since I never had that feeling of desperately wanting to keep reading.
Ahhhh, a diary entry plus a book review. What more you could ask for?
We love water parks, too! Last year we joined Water Country for the season. We went around 5 times.
Maybe we can find a day this summer to go together to one? I’m sure the Monkeys would love it!
That would be great if we can find a date that works for both of us and the weather cooperates!
