Sorry, I got really sappy today
Please forgive me. If you are in a curmudgeonly mood, please come back again tomorrow. I’ll try to be more snarky then.
I have a partner. This is big. Really, it is. What I’m saying is, I have someone to share my life with. Someone to face life’s ups and downs with. Someone to celebrate with. Someone to talk things over with. Someone to laugh, cry, and argue with. Someone to love, and someone who loves me.
Someone to help fold the laundry. [...] Continue reading

Identify the problem: Where are my keys?
Identify the problem.
It sounds so simple, doesn’t it? I mean, if you are unhappy with something or feeling frustrated, you already know what the problem is, right?
Not so much. At least, not for me.
As I was getting ready to walk out the door recently, I found myself in the all-too-common situation of rushing around looking for my keys and sunglasses. I hate that! More stress, more tension, making myself late, just because my stupid keys are missing. [...] Continue reading

Welcome Non-Consumer Advocate Readers
If you’re here following a link from the Non-Consumer Advocate, welcome! (An aside: Today, Katy of The Non-Consumer Advocate posted my piece about uncluttering, very slowly, as a guest post on her wonderful blog.) Just a moment to introduce myself: … Continue reading
People watching at the swimming hole
We’ve been to lots of swimming holes lately. A pond in a nearby town, the local swimming pool, the beach. I’m often in the water with Monkey, but sometimes she finds friends or ends up jumping off the dock a million times and I have a chance to people watch. People watching is one of my favorite past times. And the pool, pond or beach? The best people watching.
A few observations: … Continue reading

Nerdiness
OK, OK, I know, I’m a nerd. I can’t help it. That’s just who I am. Today I’m embracing my inner nerdiness! Today I give you the Top 10 Indicators of my nerdiness. The sad part is how easily I came up with 10 things. And I didn’t even mention my thick glasses, my fascination with N.P.R., or the subscription I used to have to Science Fiction Magazine. Here’s my list… Continue reading

I think I may have my hands full…
That little Monkey of mine…she’s quite something. At the barbecue/cookout this weekend, Monkey was playing foosball with a friend of mine. My friend described it like this: The game got kind of heated and I accidentally lifted the table a … Continue reading
What makes me happy? The people I love!
Just a few quick thoughts today, in the spirit of “1 sentence”: Monkey started basketball camp today. Watching her confident and casual walk into the gym where the kids were shooting hoops — I was filled with happiness for her. … Continue reading
I never would have guessed
Best part of the day yesterday? I never would have guessed, but it turned out to be around 11:00pm, when I was just about at my wit’s end. Here’s what happened… Monkey was very tired, and not feeling quite up … Continue reading
